. Sources tell EW.com that Wayans fought for the role, blowing the producers away with a 13- min screen test where he “transforms into Pryor.” The movie depicts Pryor’s controversial brand of comedy and his battle with drugs and is currently budgeted at $20 million.

I have seen Texas, Colorado, Wyoming and Virginia. The two most disapointing games were in Richmond, Virginia and in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Texas football has always been exciting to me but I’ve also seen a lot of good Colorado football. I grew up in a small town in Texas and it’s just like in the movies where the whole town closes down for the football games. In my opinion Texas has the best however I’ve heard good things about Florida and California highschool football. What is your take on this subject? What state has the best high school football?

Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, and Florida. Basically anyone from the south.

In terms of excitement and depth of teams Texas rules without any contest.

I’m from Indiana, our state sucks for football. Don’t let anyone tell you anything for this answer other than Texas.

Florida is the only other state in the rear view mirror.

Florida—Most of the players that play for Florida, FSU, &Miami, are from Florida

I’ve lived in Colorado and Texas, and although it is a republic, not a state, I have to say Texas. They start football at age four, and it is serious business. Plus, the fans are so good at every level.

Colorado starts much later and garners much less support, although they do love football, they also love hockey, skiing and outdoorsey stuff.

The popularity of football is growing everywhere, thank goodness.

I’d have to say TX

i would say the 3 best are texas, florida, and california like you said. i live in cali, and i hear a lot about the really good HS teams like poly, de la salle, some of the private christian schools around here. i live in the bay area so i hear alot about de la salle, with their 150 something game winstreak that was broken a few years ago.
i know texas is always big on football as is florida.

WITHOUT ANY DOUBT".LOUISIANA"……HANDS DOWN THE VERY BEST IN THE COUNTRY!

Texas all the way!!!
Tommy M | Jul 28, 2007

California, Texas, Louisiana in that order. California and Texas mostly just because there’s so many people that there’s bound to be better football players. Plus, in Texas, high school football is the main sport for many areas..they love them some HS gridiron.

California has many strong prep school programs as well, places like Mater Dei and Cardinal Newman (my HS’s erstwhile rival…their QB coach is Joe Montana, for craps sake!) that recruit like crazy from across the country, plus the number of strong college programs like UCLA, Cal, and USC of course attracts a lot of young players. All the big colleges know to scout the California high schools, so its where you go to get discovered.

Louisiana has LSU nearby, but they’re basically Texas Plus….they dont have the population, but they have the same myopic passion for football and they produce a lot of heated high school games as well :)

Texas easily. A lot of great players come from Texas high schools.
armycaptain92 | Jul 28, 2007

Honeslty I’m a little disappointed. Nowhere has Ohio been mentioned. I live in a small town in Ohio and it’s like how those movies about high school football. The population is 2,500 maybe 4,000 with outlaying areas. And they’res always at least 5,000+ at the games(visting teams).

I mean i know Texas is big about it too. Ohio doesn’t produce the talent like Texas, Cali, or Fla. But if you have ever met a die hard OSU fan believe me they’re usually just as die hard about their local HS team.
facelessmagg0t | Jul 28, 2007

Everyone says texas and i agree. Cali and Florida up there too
sparkhenry | Jul 28, 2007

anywhere down south. but if you look at top 150 high school seniors year in and year out, texas and florida hands down.
rayray_1999_1999 | Jul 28, 2007

mississippi and alabama alot of people say louisianna but the ms 5a state champs beat the la 5a state champs every year
simone219 | Jul 28, 2007

Of course it’s probably Texas, but I’m surprised no ones talking about the northeast. Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, West Virginia, etc. Pennsylvania and Ohio have an all star game called "The big 33" and it’s a pretty huge deal.

Just a quick reminder that Marino, Montana, Namath and Unitas are all from Pennsylvania.

But yes, from what I hear, Texas is psychotic about football, so I’d expect the best games to be there.
Alex S | Jul 28, 2007

I’ve lived in cali, texas, and florida growing up and i would have to say texas is the more die hard football state followed by cali, then florida.
